If you already know you are a carrier of a specific condition, our Known Carrier Match service helps you find a genetically compatible donor.
Known Carrier Match is a genetic matching service designed to reduce the risk of passing on genetic diseases to your future child. By comparing your genetic carrier report with that of your chosen donor, this service identifies potential known genetic incompatibilities. The test is carried out in collaboration with the laboratory Amplexa Genetics.
We compare your genetic carrier report and the one from your chosen donor to identify if he's a potential carrier of the same critical genetic conditions as you.
This service is free of charge, you only need to provide a copy of your existing genetic carrier report.
You will get the result within 48 hours after providing your genetic carrier report.
You know you are not passing on a known genetic disease.
A genetic carrier report, also known as a genetic report or carrier status report, provides a detailed overview of the mutations identified in your DNA. These mutations are described and specified using genetic terminology, highlighting the specific genes that have mutated.
A match means that your chosen donor is not a carrier of the diseases included in your genetic carrier report.
Although Known Carrier Match is a highly reliable technique, no test is 100% accurate, and there is always a small residual risk. In addition, the test cannot detect spontaneous mutations that may occur in the egg, sperm, or foetus.
Follow these four steps to order a Known Carrier Match:
I know there is a lower risk of my future baby being born with inherited genetic diseases. With that knowledge in mind, I can take the next steps on my fertility journey with a much lighter heart.
You can use any genetic carrier report stating your carrier status of a recessive condition. The report can be in any language.
Yes, we will test for all diseases listed in your carrier report. If the result states you are not a match with the chosen donor, the test will be repeated with another donor of choice.
Known Carrier Match is a free service.
Sometimes the donor you had planned to use is no longer available. To avoid this scenario, it's necessary to buy straws in advance so you can be sure that the donor is available after you get the test results.
Known Carrier Match is a highly reliable method of finding a compatible donor. No test or matching method can detect 100% of mutations. Also, Known Carrier Match cannot account for spontaneous mutations that may arise in the egg, the sperm cell or the foetus. However, this remaining risk is very small.
You can only use the Known Carrier Match service if you already know your carrier status and have a genetic carrier report. If you don’t have a genetic carrier report and wish to have one, we recommend you contact your GP.
Known Carrier Match can only be performed before we ship the straws to your clinic.
Sometimes, the results show a no-match. If this is the case, we run a new test with another donor of your choice. This test is also completely free of charge.
If a donor is not a match it's not possible to get treated with that particular donor.
