Where do we operate?
European Sperm Bank supplies and works closely with fertility clinics in more than 100 countries.
As we supply sperm around the globe, we follow national guidelines and, in addition, apply self-imposed standards, including a maximum family limit of 75 per donor. This is based on leading scientific studies and long-standing recommendations from professional bodies such as ASRM, while also closely following and adapting to ongoing and emerging discussions within the donor-conceived community. We also provide the option to use donors with even lower family limits – as far down as one.
Our headquarters are located in Copenhagen and we have donation centres and offices in Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.

Who are our sperm donors?
The sperm donors at European Sperm Bank come from diverse backgrounds, lead varied lives and represent a wide range of personality types. Each and every one has been rigorously screened before approval.
What information is available in donor profiles?
The sperm donor profiles include physical features, such as height, eye colour and skin tone, as well as details on character traits and personal history, like education, hobbies and personality insights. You have access to childhood photos, audio interviews, family history information and more, so you can choose a donor who feels right for you.
We share extensive information to help you make a well-informed decision that feels right for you — and to ensure your child can later have a meaningful understanding of the donor.
Searching for a sperm donor is easy
To simplify the search process, we’ve developed a series of features and tools. These include:

We also measure sperm motility (MOT) and supply sperm with varied MOT counts. This ensures we provide the right sperm for your treatment, as different treatment types require different sperm MOT levels. Once signed up with European Sperm Bank, you can browse our list of partner clinics and our experienced team is available should you require help finding a clinic that meets your unique needs.
Currently, legislation prevents sperm shipments directly to your home. All shipments must be directed to a licensed fertility clinic, even if home insemination is legal in your country of residence and the sperm is intended for this purpose.

At European Sperm Bank, we’re invested in helping build healthy, happy families and are here to support donor-conceived individuals. With this in mind, we offer all customers a free personalised book for their donor-conceived child.
Designed to help donor children understand their story in an age-appropriate way, every book is personalised to reflect your family – whether you’re a solo mum, LGBTQIA+ or in a heterosexual relationship.
Why consider sperm storage?
You should consider buying extra sperm straws and keep them in storage with us to ensure that you have enough sperm straws from your preferred donor for future fertility treatments. It often takes more than one round of treatment to become pregnant, and you may also want more children in the future. By storing the sperm, you are essentially reserving the sperm donor for your future use. In the right cryogenic conditions, frozen sperm can often be stored for decades.
Become a sperm donor
Sperm donors help build families, and becoming a donor is deeply impactful. We understand it’s a big decision. European Sperm Bank is always here to answer any questions potential donors have about donating in general, our donor approval process and sperm bank donation requirements.
Our donors undergo comprehensive health screenings, genetic testing, and semen quality assessments to ensure that medical and personal eligibility criteria are met. We also offer several rounds of counselling to make sure that you fully understand what it entails to become a donor. In some locations, there may be other eligibility considerations.
Currently, European Sperm Bank is only recruiting donors in Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.
